Pass Plus is a practical training course designed to help newly qualified drivers build confidence, improve skills and develop safer driving habits. The course lasts a minimum of six hours and is especially beneficial within the first year after passing your test, although it can be taken at any time. Training must be delivered by a Pass Plus registered Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), and successful completion may help reduce your car insurance premium, depending on your insurer.
The programme covers six modules: driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways. Most of the training is practical, with at least five and a half hours spent driving, although some elements may be theory-based if local conditions require it. There is no final test; instead, you are assessed throughout the course and must reach the required standard in each module to successfully complete the programme.
